RC Planes

What kind of RC plane should newbies buy?

  1. If you do not have any experience flying remote controlled planes, first you can gain all the knowledge you need either on the internet or at your local hobby store. Keep in mind that flying r/c aircrafts such as planes and helicopters aren’t as easy as driving ground ones such as trucks, cars, monster trucks, or tanks.
  2. The most recommended r/c airplane for beginners is a 2-meter sized powered sailplane, because it has a quicker reaction time than the larger planes that more experienced fliers would use. Sailplanes also use less power so you can keep the plane in the air longer which gives you more time to learn how to maneuver the plane. Another very popular type of radio control plane for beginners is what is referred to as “Trainers.” These planes have a main purpose: to train you flying it.
  3. Slowflyer or Parkflyer are other good alternatives. They fly slowly so you can handle the plane and you’ll have more time to react whenever you need to do so.
  4. Look for an radio controlled plane with a Top Wing design: the wings are on top of the plane. This kind of design gives the plane more life. A plane with a large wingspan will also help produce lift.
  5. Go with a 2-channel or a 3-channel plane. A 2-channel plane allows you to control the up/down and side to side movement. A 3-channel plane will allow you to do the same, but also allows you to control the planes speed. 4-channel (or more) planes aren’t recommended for novices, so it’s best to stay away from it (for now).
  6. Some beginner planes even come with a feature called ACT (Anti Crash Technology). The plane uses sensors to detect the planes orientation. If they sense that the plane is going into a dive, they will automatically correct the position of the plane giving you more time to react and avoid a crash.
