As a hobby, RC boats are a great way to challenge both yourself and others. Radio controlled boats are a fun and rewarding hobby, that could be either relaxing or exhilarating depending on your needs.
Radio controlled toys such as boats are a great way of passing the time and enjoying yourself. RC boats are classified in several different ways. The three types of motors that drive the boats are electric, gas, and nitro.
While each version has their ardent enthusiasts, the electric radio controlled boats are the more popular among the three. The fastest radio controlled boats are usually either hydroplanes or catamaran hull designs. Some of the best radio controlled boats are scale models of actual watercraft. Between nitro and gas powered units, the nitro rc boats are typically less costly than gas boats.
Despite the fact that many radio controlled boats are very expensive, you can find an electric RC boat that is decent for under $100. When you are choosing a remote controlled boat, keep in mind that both the nitro and gas radio controlled boats are a bit more difficult to maintain than electric boats. Also, a little more talent and skill is needed for the nitro and gas boats when compared to the electric boats.
Buying a ready build radio controlled boat is by far the easiest option. But building your own boat can be much more satisfying
Electric are more popular because they are cheap and easier to run straight out of the box. Electric radio controlled boats come in a number of sizes, from the very small and slow pool toy RC boats to the very fast medium sized RC boat. The main problem with the electric boats is that as the batteries loose power the boat become slower.
Nitro boats utilize Nitro-Methane fuel which is very powerful and makes for a fast boat, but the main problems with Nitro powered radio controlled boats are that they are a little more complicated to run as you will need to use a special starter kit to get them going and the fuel is about 4 times the price of a gas boat.
Gas radio controlled boats run on regular car gas with oil combined in the fuel. Then there is the radio controlled sail boat.
Recommendation for a gift is one of the models that can be run as a boat, a plane, or an RC car, like trucks.
